Different than a bank & we like it that way.

The First story

We were the first credit union in BC. Originally known as Powell River Credit Union, First Credit Union began in 1939 on the west coast of British Columbia. We're proud of our heritage and are excited to share our story with you.

Vision and purpose

First Credit Union began with a group of people working together to build a financially healthy future for its members and communities. We remain committed to this vision in everything that we do.

Financial literacy

Knowledge is power. Financial literacy is the first step toward establishing healthy financial habits. That's why we empower community members by offering financial literacy resources and education.
