Scholarships

To support our vision to ‘build financially healthy communities’ and our purpose to ‘empower through knowledge’ we invest in our members who are pursuing post-secondary education. We value the impact these individuals and their learning make in our communities.

We offer multiple First Credit Union Scholarships of $1,500 annually in each of our communities (Bowen Island, Powell River, Texada Island, Courtenay and Cumberland) to support members pursuing post-secondary education, including adults returning to studies.

Deadlines for scholarships are typically in late June to early July. See below for the criteria. Any questions about scholarships can be sent to Community@firstcu.ca

  • Applicants must be members in good standing for the period of one year or more
  • Applicants must plan on attending courses or programs at an accredited post-secondary institution
  • The scholarship must not exceed the cost of the program

The deadline for scholarship applications is Friday June 26th (at 11:59pm). You can find the application here.
