Reasons you'll love working at First Credit Union

Meaning

Our commitment to building financially healthy communities is guided by our co-operative principles and values. We collaborate with community partners from individual change-makers to larger non-profit organizations to amplify impact. We provide many opportunities for employees to get involved through in-person volunteer work and giving back programs.

Growth

We support successful and rewarding careers that reflect our employees' unique goals. You'll have the opportunity to achieve a professional designation or an academic degree if you desire. We encourage the development of leadership skills on various employee-led teams and offer the chance to join in our wellness, green team, or diversity & inclusion initiatives. Whatever your professional interest, we're here to help.

Pride

You'll work for a company you believe in. First Credit Union is a community-owned financial institution where people invest in each other. As a cooperative, our purpose is to empower our members and make meaningful community impact. If this aligns with your values, this may be a match!

Teamwork

We are fortunate to have an incredible team of employees who share their varied skills, interests, and life experience. You'll feel like part of the First Credit Union family in no time.

Location

Our communities offer the best of West Coast living. We have branches in Powell River, the Comox Valley, Bowen Island and Texada Island - some of the most stunning locations in BC, Canada. You can snowshoe, scuba dive, ski, mountain bike, hike, watch ocean-view sunsets and camp in paradise.

We're a Living Wage employer

A Living Wage is defined as the hourly wage a worker needs to earn to cover their basic expenses within their community. It's a wage that lifts working families out of poverty and allows employees not just to subsist, but to have access to the types of things that make for a decent quality of life: the ability to contribute to communities, and be healthy and active social citizens. Our competitive salaries go well beyond the Living Wage, which aligns with our vision of building financially healthy communities. It means strong local economies, sustainability, and fostering a dedicated, skilled, and healthy workforce. We believe our members would expect nothing less of us in caring for our staff.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

To support employment equity and diversity in the workplace, we welcome applications from all groups, including visible minorities, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, persons of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity or expression (LGBTQ2S+), and others who may contribute to diversity at First Credit Union. We also recognize unique styles, perspectives, and beliefs that support a diverse, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
